3 tips for hot-weather workouts

These tips can help you exercise safely outdoors when the weather is warm.

1. Time it right. Exercise when it's coolest outside—early morning or late evening. It's often hottest between noon and 3 p.m.

2. Stay hydrated. Drink water before, during and after exercise.

3. Take it easy. Shorten your workouts or scale back their intensity and take frequent, shady breaks.

Remember: If the heat gets to be too much outdoors, you can always move your workout inside.
